Marriage type fields requested, in addition to "Religious" (e.g., "Civil")

pyutaros's picture

It would be nice to have the option of choosing "Civil" for marriages that were conducted by a justice of the peace without a religious ceremony. There may be other types of categories that could be included, too (e.g., Common Law). Thanks.

Misspelling of word "Birth" in table

pyutaros's picture

The word Birth is misspelled in the "Children of" table column heading. The column heading says "Brith Date".

I like your program. Looking forward to the GEDCOM export feature. Thanks.

Wishlist Links

Writing from a different computer, so I don't have all of my regular tools for bookmarking. Here are four links I came across for creating a good wishlist for your winter holiday this year. No longer does Amazon have a lock on the list.

More then 1 gedcom

This is a nice mod, but if you have more then one gedcom you run into trouble.
What would be really nice is to have multiple tree's.

BTW, the images for the tree don't work...

Open Letter to a Gun Advocate

Initially meant to be a reply to another blog post, I found it to be too lengthy for a comment thread. I instead decided to make this a general blog post for public view. The remainder is the reply.

Mr. President

It's our 44th episode just in time for our 44th President to-be. But there are some questions swirling around about how exactly President-elect Obama will move forward. We go through some of the basics.

GEDCOM data confused on import

pyutaros's picture

When importing an abbreviated GEDCOM file (exported from Legacy 7.0, format Gedcom 5.5 "generic"; see attachment), some of the individuals' information is confused.

For example, if you look at the Individual entry for Adam Browne (me), you'll see:
- birth date is missing
- birth place is incorrect
- mother's name is given as father
- father's name is omitted altogether

If you look at the Groups index in general, you'll see:
- a lot of "Error!" messages
- couples entered twice
- one person entered as a couple, using the given and surnames
